In the 1980s and 1930s, unemployed councils of various sorts were
important vehicles for demanding progressive change around jobs and
unemployment. With unemployment the highest in 26 years, there are
about 20 million Americans unemployed, underemployed, anxiously employed.
I'd be interested in hearing about examples and models of organizing and
mobilizing the unemployed.
